Introduction
Underground Mine incidents such as fires can have dire consequences. First, the loss of life and second, infrastructure damage which leads to production and other losses. Prompt detection, timely and accurate warnings to those potentially affected, and a proficient response by underground mine workers can have a tremendous impact on the social and economic consequences of an underground fire. LIFELINE® SKI ROPE
LIFELINE® Ski Rope is a directional rope guidance system which consists of 8mm braided rope mounted to the rock face) which will specifically define the recommended escape route. Side-wall installation and roof installation are the two choices offered. The installation of LIFELINE® offers directional guidance, allowing escapees to retain balance, and increases their speed of escape and maximum travel distance to the Self-Contained Self- Rescuer (SCSR)
LIFELINE® STEEL
LIFELINE® Steel is a directional steel rope guidance system which consists of 5mm PVC coated Steelrope mounted to the rock face which will specifically define the recommended escape route. As a result of the installation of LIFELINE® Steel, escapees may maintain their balance, pace of escape, and maximum travel distance to the Self-Contained Self- Rescuer (SCSR).
REFUGE BAY KITS
A refuge bay kit is another key element of safe emergency evacuation. The updated Refuge Bay Kit from Rescue One offers several special features, such as a digital display battery charger and 12-hour battery backup, a control panel with a tamper-alert alarm, and a stand for more versatility.
FRONTLINE®
FRONTLINE® is an innovative new idea for early evacuation of underground mines. The mine’s intake air flow system is filled with a strong scent that is released by the evacuation system. It functions in a similar way as a stench gas system. The scent is atomized in the airflow and moves along the mine following the ventilation flow. When the aroma enters the working area, it alerts individuals to the presence of smoke or CO up to 1000m away. This mining fire detection system can provide a life-saving early warning to your miners.
UNDERGROUND FANS
Mine fans pump fresh air into the mine and contaminated air out of the mine. They can be put either above ground or underground on the return and intake airshafts, or both. To provide safe working conditions for personnel beneath, ventilation systems are essential. They deliver clean, cold air, dilute and eliminate combustible gases, and they also remove machine exhaust gases.
SOS RESCUE TRAILER
SOS (Support on Surface) Rescue Trailer, aimed at supporting miners that are trapped underground in a coal mine. The borehole above the refuge bay will be used by the trailer to supply supplies necessary for survival. The rescue trailer can supply trapped underground miners with essential oxygen and supplies, giving rescue workers vital time to investigate other ways to safely extract trapped miners. Despite being perfect for coal mines, the trailer may be customised to meet the requirements of a particular mine.
